Request data deletion

Last updated: 10 July 2026

How to ask us to delete your data

Email info@budy.life with the subject “Data deletion request”.

Tell us which of these applies to you, so we can find your data:

We confirm within 5 working days and complete deletion within 30 days.

Budy has no accounts

You don't create an account to use the Budy app, so there is no account to delete. What we hold, and how each part is removed, is set out below.

Data in the app stays on your phone

The name and gender you enter during onboarding, your evening-window preference, your custom actions, and your streak and win counts are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded to us.

Deleting the app deletes this data immediately. You don't need to contact us, and we could not delete it for you even if you asked — we don't have it.

Usage analytics are anonymous

The app sends anonymous usage events (screens opened, flows completed, app version) to our analytics provider, on servers in the EU. These events carry a random identifier generated on your device. They contain no name, email address, or advertising identifier.

Because of that, we have no way to tell which events are yours — which also means we cannot single them out to delete on request. Deleting the app stops any further events being sent, and events are deleted automatically within 12 months of collection.

There is one historical exception. Until July 2026, participants in our research study could enter a Prolific participant ID during setup, and events recorded while the study ran carry that ID. The app no longer collects it, and it is erased from your phone the next time you open Budy. If you took part, send us your Prolific ID and we will delete those events.

What we can delete on request

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Where a study payment or a legal obligation requires us to keep a minimal record, we will tell you which record and why.

Your other rights

Deletion is one of several rights you have under UK GDPR. You can also access, correct, restrict, or object to our use of your data, receive a copy of it, and withdraw consent at any time. See our Privacy Policy, or email info@budy.life.

If you're unhappy with how we handle your request, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
